Great Fire of London anniversary events

London’s Baking! Bakers, Cakes, Bread and Puddings from 1666
Exhibition runs 30 August 2016 - 1 February 2017

Taking its inspiration from Thomas Farriner and his bakery, the starting place of the Great Fire, this exhibition tells the story of London’s bakers from 1666 to the 20th century. Discover recipes (to take away and bake!) for almond cakes c1700, suet puddings c1850 and question
able school puddings from the 1970s.

Free - during normal LMA opening hours.

Thursday 22 September, 6 - 6.30 pm

Join us for a tour through baking in London from the 17th to 20th centuries. Starting with the Great Fire, see how London’s baking develops over the centuries, including important London firms such as Birch and Birch and J Lyons and Company.

The Great Fire of London
Friday 30 September
10.30am - 4pm

Commemorating its 350th anniversary, this event will focus on the impact of the Great Fire on St Bartholomew’s Hospital, and the role the hospital played in rebuilding the City.

The day comprises talks, document viewings, and an afternoon walking tour. Morning presentations will be supported by the findings of recent excavation works carried out by Museum of London Archaeology.
